Pre or Post Nuptial Agreements:
The current family law climate is changing. There is a greater emphasis and public awareness as to the need to take preventative steps rather than remedial steps. We feel it is important that cohabiting, engaged couples or newlyweds are aware of their respective rights at an early stage in their relationship. We often find that being able to reach an agreement as to what ought to happen with the marital finances in the event of separation assists couples in being able to achieve a far more amicable and friendly separation, dispelling any anxieties that committed couples may have about relationship breakdown
Child Arrangements:
Children are often at the centre of a family law dispute. Where the arrangements of children are concerned emotions are naturally high. It is in our view important that advice is taken in order to ensure an arrangement is reached that is safe and in the best interests of your children. We frequently advise on the appropriate living arrangements for a child and contact arrangements. We also assist and advise extended family members including grandparents in being able to spend time with their grandchildren.
Surrogacy and Parental Agreements:
We believe that it is extremely positive that the law recognises a range of different family structures. Our solicitors are able to advise you on your rights and the process that you need to go through in order to establish a legal surrogacy arrangement and to ensure that those in different family structures have obtained or are able to obtain legal recognition as a ‘parent’.
Domestic Abuse:
We work closely with a number of agencies including the local refuge to assist some of the most vulnerable in our society who may be suffering various forms of domestic abuse. Importantly the law now recognises that domestic abuse does not just include physical abuse and encompasses a range of circumstances including financial abuse, emotional abuse and other forms of control. Our solicitors are able to advise on such matters in the strictest confidence and with the greatest deal of sensitivity to ensure that those suffering from domestic abuse are able to obtain the appropriate form of protection and support that might be required.
International Divorce and International Children:
We have a wide range of experience in representing individuals from all over the continent. The department has a notable reputation in representing individuals from the Middle East, Israel, the USA and Russia.
